RNCV 300 -- The Management Function  (3 units)
Description:  Explores the history and dynamics of the management function as it applies to the administration of agencies. The cognitive roles that make up the management process will be extensively explored and will serve as a foundation for this course.

RNCV 301A -- Written Argumentation for Commerce  (1 unit)
Description:  Introduces the concepts of effective argumentation skills and business communications. Examines the similarities and differences of writing styles in previous writing courses to the commerce environment.

RNCV 301B -- Oral Argumentation for Commerce  (1 unit)
Description:  The course covers the topics of oral presentation types, presentation style, creating and using effective visual aids, preparation for a presentation, presentation presence, and presentation logic.

RNCV 301C -- Etiquette for Commerce  (1 unit)
Description:  This course introduces new employees to the four guiding principles of business etiquette.

RNCV 301D -- Written and Oral Argumentation Portfolio Compendium and Career Tools  (1 unit)
Description:  The course helps students develop effective strategies for job searching in today's market. Particular attention will be given to developing and using a network of professional contacts.

RNCV 304 -- Personnel Policies and Procedures  (3 units)
Description:  The focus will be on the problems and policies in the procurement, development, compensation, and motivation of personnel that supervisors face in carrying out the supervisory function. The course will also review the use of computer based human resource management systems in organizations.

RNCV 305 -- Human Behavior and Ethics in the Organizational System  (3 units)
Description:  Integration of classical and current organizational psychosocial theories and theories of organizations that provide an understanding of the effects that an organizational system has on the behavior choices of human beings in the work environment.

RNCV 306 -- The Target Market and Distribution Channels  (3 units)
Description:  The student will explore, in depth, the nature of an enterprise’s potential customer field, including how the target market is defined for a commercial enterprise.

RNCV 307 -- Local, National, and Global Economic and Financial Systems  (3 units)
Description:  The course examines how corporate financial managers and investors manage risk using derivative securities, such as options, swaps, futures, and forward contracts. Emphasis is on managing business and financial risk.

RNCV 308 -- Sustainable Commerce  (3 units)
Description:  The course explores commerce as part of an indivisible, open system in connection with many other systems that impact on the natural environment and its natural resources.

RNCV 309 -- Transportation and Supply Systems in Commerce  (3 units)
Description:  This course explores organization, management and control of material flow processes; logistical strategies and relationships of procurement, handling, warehousing, transportation, and inventory control in the context of transportation and logistics systems.

RNCV 310 -- Manufacturing, Retail, and Service Process Systems  (3 units)
Description:  Product design, process layout, inventory control, production's relationship with the marketing, sustainable production, operational aspect of quality control and improvement are the core themes of this course.

RNCV 311 -- Market Planning  (3 units)
Description:  The course provides an in depth exploration of the 4 P's of marketing: product, price, place and promotion, i.e., the development of the enterprise's marketing plan.

RNCV 312 -- The Organization and Employment Environment  (3 units)
Description:  In depth examination of how the elements of organizational design (Organizational Theory), the employment environment, and individual behavior (Organizational Behavior) within an organization interact and impact on the decision processes within the enterprise.

RNCV 313 -- Trade and Business Control Systems  (3 units)
Description:  Examination of business control systems and their value to organizational business decision-making. Control processes that utilize statements of cash flows, financial statement analysis, cost and managerial accounting outputs will be studied.

RNCV 314 -- Mathematics for Applied Sciences  (3 units)
Description:  This course will examine applications of probability, statistics, data analysis, hypothesis testing, apportionment and scheduling to the applied sciences. Registration requires a passing grade on the UA South BAS Math Readiness test.

RNCV 316 -- Introductory Methods of Analysis  (3 units)
Description:  This course will introduce quantitative and qualitative analysis and evaluation in real world settings with a focus on evaluating research and program statements, designing evaluation plans and interpreting program evaluation data.

RNCV 319 -- Ethics in Public and Private Sectors  (3 units)
Description:  Ethical issues that arise in relation to work in public and private sectors including: allocation of resources, corporate and social responsibility, discrimination. Students will also gain knowledge of ethical codes related to their professional field.

RNCV 320 -- Organizational System Design for the Agency Administrator  (3 units)
Description:  Topics will include how organization design effects behavioral choices of agency members, how sub-systems, such as information processes, human resources, control systems, the supervisory process, policies and procedures, planning systems, facility management, and others are integrated into a whole.

RNCV 330 -- Oral and Written Argumentation Skills for the Agency Administrator  (3 units)
Description:  Development of a working understanding of argumentation as it applies to effective oral and written communication in the organizational environment. Included will be a review of decision making and the concept of planning as it applies to the management function.

RNCV 371 -- Network Security Principles  (3 units)
Description:  In-depth coverage of current risks and threats to an organization’s information including methods of addressing the safeguarding of these critical assets. Coverage includes theoretical and historical background necessary to understand the various risks and hands on techniques for working in the security field.

RNCV 372 -- Application and Theory of Network Administration  (3 units)
Description:  Theories and applications of network architecture, switching, routing, algorithms, protocols, infrastructure hardware, cable plant, security, and network management.

RNCV 373 -- Theory of Telephony and Switching Technologies  (3 units)
Description:  Course explores regulation and policy making in telecommunications, the evolution of the industry and industry structure, the roles and relationships of U.S. standards to international telephony, the role of organizations in the telecommunications industry and governmental units, the evolution of international telecommunications organizations and regulatory systems, and examination of current issues.

RNCV 374 -- Routing: Theories and Applications  (3 units)
Description:  Course focuses on both theoretical and application concepts of IP addressing techniques, intermediate routing protocols, command line interface configuration of switches, and VLANS.

RNCV 375 -- Advanced Routing and WAN Technologies  (3 units)
Description:  Course focuses on both theoretical and application concepts advanced IP addressing techniques including Network address translation, port address translation, and DHCP. Wan terminology and technology to include: PPP, ISDN, Frame Relay and overall network management.

RNCV 376 -- Mathematics for Applied Technology  (3 units)
Description:  Basic probability inc. permutations, combinations, and counting theory; number systems: binary and hexadecimal; converting between number bases; solving application problems; using Excel with statistical functions.

Prerequisite(s):  Acceptance into UA South BAS Program and Network Administration Concentration. Must have passed an intermediate Algebra or higher course with a C or better.

Description:  Qualified students working on an individual basis with professors who have agreed to supervise such work.

RNCV 400 -- Developing and Maintaining Work Teams  (3 units)
Description:  An emphasis on the development of the skills needed by supervisors in creating, developing, and maintaining high performance work teams in the organizational environment.

RNCV 401 -- Supervision in a Diverse Work Environment  (3 units)
Description:  Survey of topics that explain the effects that differences in socioeconomic background, race, national origin, age, and gender have on behavioral decisions in the workplace environment, including a historical review of diversity in the organizational environment.

RNCV 404 -- Agency Budgeting and Financial Management  (3 units)
Description:  Theories, issues and techniques of budgeting and financial management will be explored, with an emphasis on how the agency administrator can maximize the output of the budgeting and financial management sub-systems in the agency.

RNCV 407 -- Marketing for Agencies  (3 units)

RNCV 425 -- The Politics of Agency Administration  (3 units)
Description:  Theories from Political Science are used to develop knowledge of the political arena and the processes the agency administrator may use to achieve the agency’s goals. A historical perspective of the political landscape of agency administration will be explored. A focus will be on developing the skills needed by an agency administrator in carrying out the management function for the agency.

RNCV 461 -- Quantitative Tools to Assist Reg Commerce Decision Processes  (3 units)
Description:  Focus on quantitative tools available for aided-analytic decision-making and problem solving in the commerce environment. The students will learn the necessary skills to competently use these quantitative tools for practical applications in making business decisions.

RNCV 467 -- Social Aspects of Entrepreneurship In Commerce  (3 units)

RNCV 493 -- Internship  (1-6 units)
Description:  Specialized work on an individual basis, consisting of training and practice in actual service in a technical, business, or governmental establishment.

RNCV 498 -- Senior Capstone  (1-3 units)
Description:  A culminating experience for majors involving a substantive project that demonstrates a synthesis of learning accumulated in the major, including broadly comprehensive knowledge of the discipline and its methodologies. Senior standing required.
