Description:  Survey of film and television history from mid-20th century to the present: international storytelling and documentary forms; converging technologies, markets, and styles.

M AR 210 -- Introduction to Production Practices  (3 units)
Description:  Introduction to the fundamental aesthetic and technical aspects of media production, designed to give students experience across a range of digital audio and video equipment and applications.

M AR 241 -- Beginning B&W Darkroom Photography.  (3 units)
Description:  Principles of photographic processes, aesthetics, theory and criticism. A 35mm camera required. This is a black and white darkroom class.

Description:  An introduction to the digital camera, digital film, digital darkroom and their application to the production of a body of contemporary photographic inquiry. A digital camera is required.

Description:  Development of diverse methods for generating ideas for fiction and documentary production, connecting aesthetic aspects of production with storytelling. Exercises, readings, screenings, and discussion lead to production of a final video project.

Description:  Focused exploration of short fiction filmmaking. Reading, screenings, discussion, and exercises lead to the creation of a short fiction work on 16mm or digital video.

Description:  Student Technology Preceptors in this course should be assigned to a particular class and instructor and will do some combination of the following: assist instructor with technology during class hours, troubleshoot problems, and serves as technology resource person for students in the class; help the instructor develop and prepare materials for class; and, serve as webmaster for the class website.

Description:  This is a workshop designed to help students complete an adequate first draft of a feature screenplay, in conjunction with in depth discussion of advanced principles of narrataive fiction as applied to screenwriting.  This is a Writing Emphasis Course.
