230. Adv. Studies and the AIC Education Experience (2) I This course is designed for transfer students only. Its purpose is to ease the transition from a more traditional education system to that of AIC by probing the mission, delivery system, the six skills and competencies, and various approaches to education. 301A. Spanish for Professionals (3) I II Spanish usage of a selected professional area with emphasis on communication in typical situations and interactions, specialized vocabulary, cultural differences. There will be related technical readings on the subject matter which may include: health occupations, social work, law and law enforcement, and other subject matter as identified. P, AISP 314 or "Advanced Low" according to ACTFL proficiency guidelines. Consult AIC instructor.

320A. Public Policy (3) I II An investigation of how government, the business or private sector and the non-profit or third sector make policy decisions and the effect these choices have on each other. The course focuses on how the policy process works and the tools used in design and implementation including economic analysis, political rhetoric, the media, as well as group and individual behavior. P, consult AIC instructor.

320B. The Oceans (3) I II This course explores the oceans of the world from three perspectives: 1) oceanography and marine biology, 2) the role of oceans in the development of the modern world, 3) the oceans as an inspiration for literature and culture. P, consult AIC instructor.

330A. Asian American History (3) I II Advanced study of the Asian-American experience with an emphasis on the rich diversity that has animated the history of the United States in the 19th and 20th centuries. While the course focuses on one particular group, it does so in the context of population migrations and their effect on U.S. society and history. P, consult AIC instructor.

340A. Labyrinths and Masquerades: On Classical and Contemporary Literary Traditions (3) I II Course analyzes the connections between classical and contemporary texts, considering the ways different genres and prose rhythms reflect specific historical and cultural contexts. P, consult AIC instructor.

340B. Oral Traditions (3) I II Course explores the connections between ancient and contemporary native literatures of North and South America. P, consult AIC instructor.
