Go directly to: Medical student electives are described in the The Department: The Department of Emergency Medicine is in the College of Medicine. The department is
committed to providing the highest quality emergency and urgent care services.
The department also conducts top-level training programs for
paramedics, medical students, resident physicians and fellows, and community
physicians. The department faculty provide attending care to patients in the University Medical Center Emergency Department. The ED cares for almost 70,000 sick and injured children and adults each year. All urgent and emergent conditions are welcome in this highly efficient clinical setting. All the faculty are board certified specialists in Emergency Medicine. The Current research activities include injury control, epidemiological studies, trauma systems evaluation, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, air medical research, outcomes studies, and toxicology and hazards materials research.
