(1-16 units) Description: Opportunities will be afforded for research experience in any of the areas of neurological research conducted by the faculty. These areas include demyelinating disease, sleep disorders and clinical neurophysiology, movement disorders, stroke, and neuro-oncology. Grading: Medical grades are awarded for this course: S P F K. NEUR 803
-- Clinical Clerkship
(3-6 units) Description: A three-week required course on the neurological wards at UMC, TMC and the Tucson VAMC. Students are taught a method of integrating the patient interview and neurological examination with an analytical approach to neurological diagnosis and management. Cases are presented to members of the neurological staff and discussed in detail. Weekly teaching conferences are given by the neurology faculty. (1-16 units) Description: This four week elective is designed to provide further understanding of the basic principles of neurological diagnosis, including the evaluation of neurological signs and symptoms and laboratory procedures. -- Clinical Neurology (Headache & Migraine) & Practice Management
(1-16 units) Description: Upon completion of this rotation, the student will demonstrate a general knowledge of the evaluation and treatment of headache disorders including: demonstrating a knowledge of the International Classification of Headache and the use of this diagnostic tool; teaching the student basic technical familiarity with the evaluation of the headache patient; encouraging skills and scientific reasoning in clinical pharmacology and clinical physiology problems presented by the headache patient; developing rational approaches to both acute and chronic headache management.
