All courses below are approved to be taught in Summer 2008; however, some (or all) may not be offered.  The course numbers that are offered, in either Pre-Session, Summer I or Summer II, are linked to the Schedule of Classes. ETCV 411 -- Application of Technology in Education  (3 units)
Description:  The course addresses the essentials of computer operations; the integration of computer technology into the learning environment; learning theory/instructional design using technology; and the use of presentation and related software. The course is directed at instructional technologists and educators.

ETCV 510 -- Learning Theory in Instructional Design  (3 units)
Description:  Introductory course examining three major paradigms of human learning from which various learning theories, approaches, interventions, strategies, and techniques have stemmed. Emphasis is placed on relationships between theory and practice in the schools.

ETCV 511 -- Application of Technology in Education  (3 units)
Description:  The course addresses the essentials of computer operations; the integration of computer technology into the learning environment; learning theory/instructional design using technology; and the use of presentation and related software. The course is directed at instructional technologists and educators. Graduate-level requirements include a final topic paper.

ETCV 520 -- Introduction to Instructional Design  (3 units)
Description:  The Introduction to Instructional Design course addresses instructional design theory with application to educational technologies. Particular emphasis is placed on the systematic design of instruction. The course is directed at educators, trainers, and instructional technologists.

ETCV 521 -- Instructional Design Using Technology  (3 units)
Description:  Instructional design methods and theories with emphasis on browser-based production and authoring using multimedia.

ETCV 522 -- Introduction to Interface Design  (3 units)
Description:  Principles of educational human-computer interface design with an emphasis on visual design, cognitive components of design, and their impact on learning.

ETCV 530 -- Multimedia Applications in Education  (3 units)
Description:  Design of multimedia for instructional applications with an emphasis on production techniques and programming tools.

ETCV 531 -- Advanced Multimedia  (3 units)
Description:  Design of multimedia for instructional applications with an emphasis on dynamic multimedia content on the web. The curriculum will focus on acquisition of advanced programming skills using Flash MX 2004 ActionScript.

ETCV 542 -- Statistical Methods in Education  (3 units)
Description:  Descriptive, correlational, and inferential procedures for presenting and analyzing educational and research data.

ETCV 545 -- Educational Tests and Measurements  (3 units)
Description:  Theoretical and practical application of psychometric techniques to test construction, analysis, and interpretation of test results.

ETCV 547 -- Educational Evaluation  (3 units)
Description:  Program evaluation in educational technology. Evaluation for use in educational settings of instruction, measurement, and tool software.

ETCV 560 -- Educational Research Methods  (3 units)
Description:  Introduction to research with focus on design, measurement, analysis, and interpretation. Emphasis will be placed on the understanding of research, the summarizing and presentation of research, and the application of research findings.

Description:  Negotiated contract allowing learner to develop a meaningful learning experience in a specialized setting.

ETCV 612 -- Systems Thinking & Modeling  (3 units)
Description:  Exploration of systems theory, its impact on the development of contemporary thinking, and educational implications and applications. A systems modeling software, will be used in this class to model natural, physical, or social phenomena, to enable us to holistically conceptualize our world.
