W S 205 Introduction to Feminist Literary Theory (3) I Introduction to the principles of feminist literary analysis through texts authored by women writers and through diverse theoretical writings on race, language, sexuality, creativity, class and subordination which forms the basis of feminist criticism. Within the theoretical context we will explore writing by Anglo women, women of color, and women from diverse cultural traditions. (Identical with CCLS 205).

W S 210 Cultures of Biology, Medicine, Gender and Race (3) I II This Tier Two course looks at how meanings of gender and race are influenced by popular conceptions of biology and medicine. It explores such controversial topics as gender difference in brain anatomy, genetic models of gayness and intelligence, reproductive technology, hormones, syphilis, and AIDS.
